Porter Airlines Boosts New York Connectivity with New Montréal-Newark Route

Porter Airlines is further expanding its presence in the New York metropolitan area. This week has seen the launch of a new non-stop route between Montréal Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

The airline will now operate up to two daily roundtrip flights using its 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, which offers a comfortable no-middle-seat experience for all passengers.

This new route marks Porter’s third non-stop service to Newark, complementing existing flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Ottawa (YOW).

Expanded Presence in New York

While several Canadian carriers are scaling back their transborder operations due to market challenges, Porter Airlines is bucking the trend with bold expansion.

The airline also recently introduced a fourth New York-area route, connecting Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to LaGuardia Airport.

Due to strong demand for its summer schedule, Porter has confirmed that the Montréal-Newark flights will operate year-round, providing consistent travel options.

The addition of this route strengthens Porter’s commitment to connecting key North American cities. Passengers traveling through Montréal can seamlessly connect to Porter’s extensive coast-to-coast Canadian network. This includes destinations like Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

Unlike other Canadian airlines reducing routes to the U.S. due to rising costs, competitive pressures, or shifting demand, Porter is doubling down on key markets.

The new Montréal-Newark route joins existing Newark services from Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) and Ottawa (YOW), as well as a recently launched Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to LaGuardia route.

“We’re excited to deepen our presence in both Montréal and New York with this new route,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president of network planning and reporting at Porter Airlines. “It offers travelers more flexibility to explore Canada and the U.S. through our growing network.”

ADM Aéroports de Montréal also welcomed the expansion. “We’re thrilled to support Porter’s growth at YUL with this new Newark service,” said Karl Brochu, Vice President of Airport Operations and Air Services Development at ADM Aéroports de Montréal.

“This route enhances options for passengers and meets the diverse needs of travelers departing from Montréal.”

Since 2006, Porter Airlines has redefined economy air travel with its focus on genuine hospitality, style, and comfort.

Operating a fleet of Embraer E195-E2 and De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, the Toronto-based airline serves a growing North American network. Recognized as an Official 4 Star Airline® in the World Airline Star Rating®, Porter continues to elevate the travel experience for every passenger.

Additionally, through a partnership with Air Transat, travelers can access European destinations via Montréal, enhancing connectivity for both leisure and business travelers.
