Last week, Edelweiss, Switzerland’s top leisure travel airline, celebrated a milestone with the debut of its Airbus A350 on a long-haul flight to Las Vegas.
Carrying 200 passengers, this flight marked a new chapter for the airline. The A350 introduces cutting-edge technology, offering a quieter, more comfortable, and eco-friendly travel experience.
To make the occasion special, every passenger found a unique souvenir at their seat: a custom “Remove before 1st Flight” tag engraved with their seat number. This thoughtful keepsake ensured the inaugural flight was unforgettable for all on board.
A350: A Step Forward for Edelweiss
Last month, Edelweiss celebrated the first flight of its new Airbus A350 to Tenerife from Zurich Airport.
The Airbus A350 was initially used on short and medium-haul routes to familiarize the crews with the new aircraft type.
In addition to Tenerife, vacation destinations such as Faro, Ibiza, Heraklion, Palma de Mallorca, Antalya and others will also be served by the Airbus A350 in the coming weeks.
The Airbus A350 signals a bold step forward for Edelweiss. It will gradually replace the older Airbus A340 fleet, bringing significant improvements.
The A350 uses 25% less fuel, reducing CO₂ emissions, and is up to 50% quieter than its predecessor. These advancements align with Edelweiss’ commitment to sustainability and passenger comfort.
Currently, Edelweiss operates the A350 three times weekly from Zurich to Las Vegas. The airline plans to expand its A350 fleet soon.
A second aircraft is set to arrive in Zurich by late June and will serve the Zurich-Vancouver route daily starting July 1. Edelweiss aims to integrate six A350s into its fleet, modernizing its long-haul operations.
