Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flagship airline, has returned to Italy’s capital with the launch of its non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Rome. It marks the carrier’s return following a five-year absence.
This exciting summer seasonal service marks the airline’s fourth new destination added to its global network in 2025.
With this addition, the Cathay Group, which includes Cathay Pacific and low-cost carrier HK Express, is on track to serve nearly 100 passenger destinations worldwide.
Cathay Pacific Expanded Reach
This year, Cathay Pacific has expanded its reach by introducing flights to Hyderabad, Dallas-Fort Worth, Urumqi, and now Rome.
Meanwhile, HK Express has added routes to Sendai, Nha Trang, Ishigaki, Komatsu, Changzhou, and Yiwu. These new services highlight the Cathay Group’s commitment to connecting travellers to vibrant destinations across the globe.
Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Marketing and Customer Officer, spoke fondly of the Italina capital. “Rome is a cherished destination for us and a favourite among our passengers.”

The new Hong Kong-Rome route operates three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights are serviced by the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900, one of the most fuel-efficient aircraft in Cathay Pacific’s fleet.
Passengers can choose from 38 flat-bed Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats, or 214 Economy seats, ensuring comfort for every traveler.
European Summer Destinations
In addition to Rome, Cathay Pacific plans to launch flights to Munich and Brussels this summer. The airline will field nearly 100 weekly return flights to 12 European cities. These include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Madrid, Manchester, Paris, and Zurich.
The healthy network strengthens the carrier’s role as a key connector between Hong Kong and Europe. Rome becomes the airline’s second Italian destination, complementing its daily flights to Milan.
Travelers from Europe can seamlessly connect to the Cathay Group’s extensive Asia-Pacific network, which includes 22 destinations in mainland China served by both Cathay Pacific and HK Express.
This robust network makes it easier for passengers to explore vibrant cities and emerging markets across the region.
