San Antonio travelers, pack your sunscreen! Spirit Airlines has launched a new route, offering nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
This recent development means residents can now trade their cowboy boots for flip-flops and experience the “Island of Enchantment” without the hassle of layovers.
The new service, operating between San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), offers up to four weekly flights.
SAT now provides direct access to the Caribbean, marking a significant waypoint.
Connecting San Antonio and San Juan
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines noted the criticality of the new service. “Our new, milestone service provides critical connectivity between the two vibrant communities of San Antonio and San Juan.”
“We’re always looking to add new, exciting destinations for our Guests to visit and explore. This new service will make it easier for travelers to enjoy a vacation on the Island of Enchantment or the Alamo City.”
Spirit Airlines has been actively expanding its presence in San Antonio. Since 2022, they’ve grown their network to include eight nonstop destinations.
Furthermore, starting April 9, 2025, passengers can look forward to daily nonstop service between SAT and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), further enhancing travel options.
The impact of this new San Juan route is significant. Jesus Saenz, Jr., Director of Airports for the City of San Antonio, expressed gratitude for Spirit Airlines’ continued investment.
