JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) has introduced a new daily flight connecting New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to San Pedro Sula, Honduras (SAP).
This route marks JetBlue’s first service to Honduras, expanding its reach in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This region now represents over one-third of the airline’s total capacity, highlighting its focus on growth in these vibrant markets.
JetBlue First Honduras Service
Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s senior vice president of network, revenue, and enterprise planning gave comment on the first Honduras route. “We’re thrilled to bring San Pedro Sula to our network,” he said.
“This route offers affordable, high-quality travel to a key Central American destination. It connects New Yorkers to Honduras’s rich culture and natural beauty while making it easier for families and friends to stay in touch with JetBlue’s award-winning service.”
Honduras officials also celebrated the launch. “This direct flight to New York is a major milestone for our country’s air connectivity,” said Malcolm Stufkens, executive secretary of Honduras’ National Airport Service.
“It reflects our government’s investment in modern airport infrastructure. JetBlue’s arrival boosts tourism, commerce, and investment, offering more travel options for Hondurans and visitors alike.”
A New Gateway to Central America
JetBlue is the only U.S. airline providing nonstop daily flights between JFK and San Pedro Sula, a bustling commercial and cultural hub in northern Honduras.
The city serves as a gateway to stunning attractions, including the Caribbean beaches of the Bay Islands, like Roatán, the ancient Mayan ruins of Copán, and lush natural landscapes.
