A JetBlue Airbus A320-200 departing to Orlando from Islip, NY diverted to New York JFK after experiencing an engine failure in flight on 13 August 2025.
JetBlue flight B6547, operated by an Airbus A320-200, was conducting a climb out of runway 24 Islip Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP).
The flight was to be a scheduled service bound for Orlando International Airport (MCO).

During the initial climb after takeoff, flight crew reported experiencing a right-hand engine failure. The departure procedure was terminated and the aircraft entered a holding procedure in the Long Beach region.
Following a period of holding, presumably to facilitate troubleshooting checks, flight crew decided to divert to New York JFK International Airport.
A diversion to New York JFK was then carried out. The aircraft landed without further incident on runway to 22L just under one hour after the flight’s initial departure.
The aircraft was brought to a stop on the active runway and emergency services attended the flight.
According to The Aviation Herald, emergency services assets attended the aircraft. They reported that the aircraft’s right-hand engine appeared to be completely destroyed. The flight crew had reportedly discharged the engines fire bottle as a precautionary measure.
