Avolon Reports 36% Net Profit Increase in Q2

Avolon, a leading global aviation finance company, shared its results for the second quarter of 2025.

Overall, the Q2 results show a robust financial performance amid continued strategic growth.

The company reported a net income of $143 million for Q2, a 36% increase compared to the previous year.

This growth suggests Avolon’s ability to capitalize on strong market demand and operational efficiency.

Credit Rating Upgrade

The company’s financial strength also earned recognition from leading credit agencies. Moody’s and Fitch upgraded Avolon’s ratings to Baa2 and BBB, respectively. Meanwhile, S&P placed the company on a positive outlook with a BBB- rating.

These financial rating upgrades highlight Avolon’s growing profitability, solid balance sheet, and high liquidity levels, which are key pillars of its business model.

Avolon generated $464 million in operating cash flow during Q2, contributing to a remarkable $2.1 billion over the past 12 months.

The company also secured $2.2 billion in new unsecured bank facilities and completed a tender offer for $1.2 billion of senior unsecured notes due in 2026, further strengthening its financial position.

Fleet and Orderbook Highlights

After the quarter ended, Avolon placed a significant order with Airbus for 75 A321neo and 15 A330neo aircraft, with deliveries scheduled through 2033.

This order, pending approval from Bohai Leasing Co., Ltd. shareholders, underscores Avolon’s commitment to fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft.

During Q2, Avolon acquired 15 aircraft, sold 20, and agreed to sell 54 more. The company also placed 26 aircraft from its orderbook, with 98% of its orderbook now committed for the next 24 months.

By June 30, 2025, Avolon’s owned, managed, and committed fleet totaled 1,166 aircraft, including orders for 532 fuel-efficient, new-technology planes, factoring in the recent Airbus order.

Avolon CEO Andy Cronin pointed to the company’s momentum. “Our Q2 net income of $143 million reflects our strong performance.”

“The ratings upgrades affirm our profitability, balance sheet strength, and liquidity. With our near-term orderbook nearly fully placed and significant aircraft sales contracted, our new 90-aircraft order extends our fleet commitments to 2033.”
