Oman Air Records Highest Ever Seat Occupancy Rate at 88%

Oman Air has recorded its highest-ever seat occupancy rate in January 2025. The airline reported an impressive 88% total load factor.

This is a key metric reflecting the percentage of available seats filled by paying passengers. This achievement highlights the airline’s efficient capacity utilization and strong market appeal.

Several of Oman Air’s 41 destinations even boasted load factors as high as 95%, demonstrating the airline’s widespread popularity.

Performance Above Global Average

This performance significantly surpasses the global average load factor of 83.5% for 2024, as reported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Oman Air’s success isn’t limited to economy class. The airline also saw a robust 77% occupancy rate in its premium Business Class cabins, indicating strong demand across all travel segments.

Beyond filling seats, Oman Air is actively expanding its point-to-point market share, playing a vital role in attracting more tourists to Oman and contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth.

Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, expressed his pride in this record-breaking achievement. “We’re extremely proud of this record load factor,” he stated.

“It reflects the strength of our network and demonstrates that the strategic changes we’ve implemented are yielding positive results.”

Looking ahead to the peak summer travel season, Korfiatis noted strong booking momentum and emphasized the airline’s commitment to sustaining this growth by delivering exceptional customer service and expanding travel options.

Transformation Journey Since 2023

Oman Air embarked on a significant transformation journey in 2023. It embarked with a clear mandate to achieve financial breakeven within three years. This ambitious goal is coupled with a commitment to contributing positively to Oman’s socio-economic objectives.

The airline’s 2024 performance highlights, the first full year of this transformation, reveal substantial progress. This success is attributed to several key initiatives, including a comprehensive network review, a strategic focus on profitable routes, and a fleet modernization program.

This program involves the introduction of newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft while gradually retiring older, less economical models.

Oman Air’s network spans over 40 destinations, served by a mix of wide-body and narrow-body aircraft. The airline offers a choice of three cabin classes, catering to diverse passenger needs and preferences with a range of flexible fare options.
